About.
Kelly Allen is a New York City–based writer and editor with more than seven years of professional experience in the magazine industry. Her passion lies in writing deeply reported features across topics including entertainment, interior design, travel, culture, and more. While she favors features, she enjoys whipping up quick news hits, delving into SEO-driven explainers, and penning hot takes. (She's also currently having some good fun blogging on Substack.)
Bylines at a glance: Wallpaper*, Cosmopolitan, Bustle, House Beautiful, Apartment Therapy, Delish, Delta Airline's Sky Magazine (RIP), Minnesota Monthly, and more
Previously, Kelly was on staff at House Beautiful where wrote features on inspiring home tours, dreamy movie and TV sets and filming locations, in-depth city guides, hotel reviews, profiles, and more. She also worked as an editorial assistant for Delish and fashion assistant for Hearst Fashion Group, which included Cosmopolitan, Women’s Health, and more. For Cosmopolitan's entertainment team, she spent two years writing and updating SEO stories—on TV, film, books, music, and podcasts—as a regular freelance contributor.
Before her time at Hearst, she was a staff writer for Tiger Oak Media's nine community lifestyle magazines in Minnesota. She also worked for Delta Airline's Sky Magazine and Minnesota Monthly. She holds a B.A. in professional journalism with a minor in interdisciplinary design from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.
When Kelly isn't writing, she's watching every new TV show and movie, browsing vintage home stores, sipping coffee in local cafés (with well-designed interiors, of course!), and fulfilling her passion for photography.
